Past

With my studies, I started seeing design as simply a way to create fun. I kept seeing how this design was harmful for the world, creating a long-standing question about whether design in general is even ethical. I looked into new perspectives, both in courses like More-Than-Human design and design for debate, as well as introspection, where I looked at what I find acceptable. Still skeptical, I looked for solutions in design activism.

Learning about internal values, desire, and duty, from an indian philosophical perspective, changed my perspective for good. Design for values, things people value deeply, is important.

I learned how to lead by being forced into a chair position in the SSCE Boulderwall commission. I came to appreciate the control I had, getting important things done. With my leadership, we were able to rebuild the boulder wall after it was broken down during the renovation, with many improvements.

I learned how to work. With meditation, my ability to concentrate increased enormously. I now know what works for me in terms of planning and can stick to it. Without these skills, I would not have been able to do an FBP properly.
